Condominium and Marina
Anchor Point General Information Anchor Point consists of approximately 89 acres. Of that space, the Marina occupies 8.12 acres; the Beacon Building site is 2.32 acres; and 19.97 acres are preserved floodplains and wetlands. An estimated 63 acres remain for future development of one to six additional buildings, based on market demand. "The Developer" is a group of six distinguished Richmond area businessmen, the majority of whom represent the real estate development and construction industries. The projects they have developed in the Richmond west end, east end, and southside include Sussex Square, Whittaker Woods, Battlefield Green, Pebble Creek, Lakepointe, Four Mile Run, Clover Hill Estates, Providence Creek, Forest Lake subdivision, Kanawha Trace, Rolfield, and Eagle Cove. One of these six gentlemen was voted "Richmond Land Master" by his peers. Highlighting the beautiful views off the rear unit balconies is a railroad track threading across the river. This is a spur line that runs on demand to the industrial plants in Hopewell and Bermuda Hundred. In the past trains have run once or twice daily during daylight hours at speeds so slow that they are nearly inaudible. Adjacent to the most affluent portion of residential Hopewell, Anchor Point is a quiet and safe area. No private security is contemplated because none is needed. The Marina is a separate facility built to serve both Anchor Point residents and the general public. Gasoline, oil, and diesel fuel are available for purchase at competitive rates from the marina store, along with a variety of marine hardware and small food items. The Anchor Point Marina is not a yacht yard. Boats up to 30 feet can be lifted from the water for temporary repairs, and boat owners can contract directly with local boat service firms for repair on-site as well. The Anchor Point Marina provides both wet and dry slips. With wet slips, the boats stay in the water at all times and are accessed by piers. Dry slips are in a "dry storage" building. A crane lifts the boat out of the water and transports it to the dry storage building where it is kept. Small boats and canoes are welcome at the Marina. Storage space is available on a first-come-first served basis with reduced rates for condo residents with annual contract arrangements. For fishing and crabbing, the Virginia Department of Natural Resources rates Virginia rivers and the Appomattox between Petersburg and Hopewell as clean. Just up-river of Petersburg lies Lake Chesdin, a regional water reservoir serving area localities. Fish and crabs are reported as safe to eat. Anchor Point is conveniently located a 20 minute drive from Downtown Richmond, and 5 minutes from the Fort Lee Gate. Both I-95 and I-295 are nearby, as is the convenience of shopping at Southpark Mall or the Fort Lee Commissary (for military personnel).
