Location of Condominium. The Condominium is located on the City of Hopewell, Virginia.

History and Location of the City of Hopewell.   The City of Hopewell is located in central Virginia, approximately 15 miles southeast of Richmond, Virginia. The area now known as The City of Hopewell was first settled in 1613, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited site in the new world, second only to Jamestown. Hopewell became independent from Prince George County by Act of Assembly in 1916.

Government in the City of Hopewell.  Like all cities in Virginia, the City of Hopewell has a council-city manager with seven council persons elected for staggered four year terms. The mayor is chosen from the council. The council and mayor appoint the city manager who implements council policies and acts as Administrative Manager of city affairs.

Education.   The City of Hopewell has a total of 16 public schools with more than 10,000 students. Student to teacher ratios are approximately 19 to 1. Additionally, there are numerous private schools. Nearby institutions of higher learning include the University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Union University in Richmond and Virginia State University in Ettrick. John Tyler Community College, in Chesterfield County, and Richard Bland College, in Prince George County have day and evening classes available offering a full range of technical and vocational courses. Many private Day Care Centers, offering a wide range of activities from basic infant care (birth to 2 years of age) to a complete educational program, are available. Before and after public school care are also offered by many institutions.

Public and Private Recreational Facilities.   There are numerous public parks throughout Hopewell with picnic tables and playground equipment. Pocahontas State Park in nearby Chesterfield County features three lakes for swimming, boating and fishing. The park also has numerous hiking trails and facilities for camping, picnics, horseback riding and features a natural history museum. The City of Hopewell Recreation Center operates year-round and activities include bridge classes, exercise classes, and Golden Age Clubs.

Several health spas and exercise/fitness centers are readily accessible to the Condominium. Also nearby are several movie theaters and a bowling alley. Numerous restaurants are within a short drive of the Condominium. Southpark Mall is nearby.

Medical Facilities.   John Randolph Hospital is a full-service acute-care community hospital located in the City of Hopewell. Numerous professional offices for medical and dental care are in close proximity to the Condominium.

Transportation.   The City of Hopewell is minutes from Interstate 64 which connects with Virginia Beach and Norfolk to the southeast and Richmond to the northwest. Interstates 95 and 85 which intersect in nearby Petersburg provide the major north-south corridor for the East Coast. Richmond International Airport is located east of Richmond and less than one-half hour from Hopewell. Private bus service is also available.

Utilities in the City of Hopewell.   Electricity is supplied to the City of Hopewell by Virginia Power. Propane gas is supplied by Parker Oil Company. Water is supplied by the Virginia-American Water Company.
